Adderly Alonso Guevara Soria is a Lima-based artisan specializing in cornoplastía, a traditional technique that transforms bull horn into refined handcrafted pieces. With over 15 years of experience, his work is rooted in both technical mastery and a strong commitment to sustainability and cultural preservation.
Through a meticulous process that includes cutting, heat shaping, sanding, polishing, carving, and pyrography, Adderly gives new life to bull horn—an undervalued byproduct from slaughterhouses that is often discarded. By reclaiming this material, he not only reduces waste but also elevates it into objects of beauty and function.
Over the years, he has developed a deep understanding of the material and its possibilities, allowing him to create pieces that balance tradition with contemporary design. His craft stands as a testament to how ancestral knowledge can evolve while remaining relevant in modern markets.
Together with his wife, Mayra Montoya, he founded the family workshop Artesanía Peruana Hecho en Cacho de Toro. Within this space, they design and produce a wide range of handcrafted items, from utilitarian objects to jewelry, all guided by current market trends while maintaining a strong artisanal identity.
Their work not only represents a sustainable approach to material use but also contributes to the preservation of artisanal practices that are at risk of disappearing. Through their workshop, they generate economic opportunities and reinforce the value of handmade craftsmanship in a rapidly industrialized world.
