The Rimac district of Lima, Peru’s capital, houses one of the largest populations of rural Peruvian migrants, and this sudden migratory expansion has created an impressive economic boom in districts that were formerly little more than makeshift shelters.
Elias, an expert in “Maquinask’a” embroidery, migrated with his family from the Junin province to Lima in 2012 in search of a better future. Today, his main source of income is traditional embroidery, and his embroidery shop even bears the name of his children, Daniel & Miguel.
